Ruth I. Hemiup on September 20, 2025.
Ruth Isabell Hemiup was born to Edna and George Pike on June 24, 1927.She was one of five siblings- George, Wilma, Ed and Penny. She married the love of her life- William ”The Chief” Hemiup on June 12, 1948. They were married for 73 years. William predeceased Ruth on February 3, 2021. Ruth was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She leaves behind two children- Thomas (Victoria) Hemiup and Donna Hemiup. She had four grandchildren- Amanda Hemiup, Jeremy (Michelle) Hemiup, Jennifer (Brian) Beasley and John (Monica) Dealey. She also leaves five great grandchildren- Grant and Brooke Hemiup and Brycen, Ezekiel and Gunnar Beasley as well as her nieces and nephews.
Bill and Ruth were avid bowlers and golfers. For a number of years, they spent their winters in South Carolina. They also loved entertaining their family and friends at their cottage on Cayuga Lake.
Ruth was an expert seamstress and loved all crafts. She also loved to bake. Her pies, cakes and cookies were always in demand at family functions.
She and Bill were long time members of Webster Baptist Church.
Ruth spent her last four years at the Edna Tina Wison Living Center. She happily participated in all the activities the Recreation Department had to offer. Ruthie (as she was known by at Edna Tina) was a Bingo champion and had a collection of prizes she won to prove it.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Mission Wing at Edna Tina Wilson for the compassion and care they provided Ruth during her stay there and especially in her final days.
Mom- we love you and we are happy that you are at peace. This is not goodbye just goodbye for now. Sending hugs to you in Heaven.
